Career Cruising

My short term and long term goals is to be able to finish high school and have a good track career. For the long term I definetly want to go to university or college to pursue my track career hopefully UNLV (University Of Nevada Las Vegas) and go on a full ride track scholarship and I want to be able to do something with fitness or sports for my job. The education that is required to be a personal trainer isn't that strict. Most people though enter the profession with at least a high school diploma or a degree in kinesiology, physical education, or a related fitness field.  Employers will often offer up a 1 month of training for new employees. There is also specialized certification available for personal trainers. You just need to be certified to call yourself a personal trainer. There are a number of programs you can take to get your certification but one of them is Can-Fit-Pro which is a Canadian organization. For this program you need to have CPR training and to pass he written and practical exams. You must be 18-19 years or older.  Also you should have at least 20 supervized hours of work experience. The requirments can vary for different organizations. There is also a course you can take in New Westminster BC called hilltop academy and it's about a 6 month course that costs $5,800.00, I think this one would be the most ideal for me because it's fairly close and I've done quite a bit of research on it from our previous project our dream career. To be a certified trainer at hilltop academy you don't need a university degree but some people want to get a kinesiology degree to take it a step up. This would definetly fit my style and preference because I'm already familiar with the program.

The courses that I will take during grade 11 and 12 that will prepare me for my education and training are english  mathematics, biology, social studies, buissness and management, health and physical education, and food and nutrition. This is both for grade 11 and 12. For next year in grade 11 I put down to be a pe assistant, biology, and food/nutrition which is a few of the requirments. The things that would help me achieve my goals is in grade 11 I want to be a pe assistant which is good experience to have especially with personal training because you have to teach, show, and be able to communicate with you clients. Other options would be to volunteer at the YMCA, also you can give free personal training sessions so you feel confident in yourself and ready to take the next step. These would definetly help me achieve my goals.

For personal training there actually isn't that many requirments you just basically after to be 19 years or older and in some other courses 18 to be able to get your certification to be a personal trainer. It also doesn't take that long either. To achieve my goals I don't rally have to worry about to much because I have so much support from my family, and I love fitness and I am a athlete my self which is very important to being a personal trainer because you need to be able to understand sports, and now how to show excersise and actually be able to do them. Also I know what you need to eat to be healthy because we have a nutritionist for track so I already have a good understanding of how much water, protein, carbohydrates you need to consume on a day to day basis based on your weight and gender. With the support I have, my fitness, and my knowledge of health there isn't to much to do to achieve my goals of being a personal trainer.

To achieve this career of being a personal trainer there isn't really any potential challenges that I may face because the requirments aren't that strict and you basically just need to be older then 19 and that's it. I have so much support from my family, and I'm fit and know quite a bit about health there really isn't really any challenges that I may face the only thing would be is getting hired and where I want to work but personal training is so high in demand right know it's not that hard to get hired. To get hired I will do a lot of research on certain locations and make sure that I put my best foot forward. Also I know people at gyms and who are in the fitness industry so I could get advice through them and have connections through them. The timeline that I would give myself to get my personal training certification is around a year. I would get my personal training certification after I go to university for track because there is no university degree required to be a personal trainer. Personal trainers normally get payed from 25-100$ an hour. Reputations is everything for a personal trainer and their buissness, if you have a good reputation and many years of experience you can charge the highest rates.

The way that I will monitor my success as I work to achieve my goals over the years that I am finished high school and university is how my fitness improves, the knowledge of health and what foods to eat, knowing many different excersises, and number of clients. I would monitor these things from 2-3 years once I get hired and finished getting certified. To be a personal trainer after going to university for track is the goal that I have set for myself because I have always wanted to be a personal trainer and work in the fitness and health industry. I love being active and living a healthy life style, it's something I have a true passion for that's why I wan to do personal training. On all of my quizzes we did previously they all suggested social at the top and being a personal trainer is definetly social because you need to interact with the clients and be able to assess them and show them the workouts. You also must be in excellent shape because it's a demanding daily routine. Normally personal trainers train 7 clients a day.I work out daily, eat healthy, and stay in shape so I think this career would be perfect for me. I would love to be a personal trainer, I think this career will be in my future.

  1. Good career goals and good for going to what you like. Its good that you already have everything planned out of how old you have to be and that costs of classes and how long it will take.
