Career Cruising

My short term and long term goals is to be able to finish high school and have a good track career. For the long term I definetly want to go to university or college to pursue my track career hopefully UNLV (University Of Nevada Las Vegas) and go on a full ride track scholarship and I want to be able to do something with fitness or sports for my job. The education that is required to be a personal trainer isn't that strict. Most people though enter the profession with at least a high school diploma or a degree in kinesiology, physical education, or a related fitness field.  Employers will often offer up a 1 month of training for new employees. There is also specialized certification available for personal trainers. You just need to be certified to call yourself a personal trainer. There are a number of programs you can take to get your certification but one of them is Can-Fit-Pro which is a Canadian organization. For this program you need to have CPR training and to pass he written and practical exams. You must be 18-19 years or older.  Also you should have at least 20 supervized hours of work experience. The requirments can vary for different organizations. There is also a course you can take in New Westminster BC called hilltop academy and it's about a 6 month course that costs $5,800.00, I think this one would be the most ideal for me because it's fairly close and I've done quite a bit of research on it from our previous project our dream career. To be a certified trainer at hilltop academy you don't need a university degree but some people want to get a kinesiology degree to take it a step up. This would definetly fit my style and preference because I'm already familiar with the program.

The courses that I will take during grade 11 and 12 that will prepare me for my education and training are english  mathematics, biology, social studies, buissness and management, health and physical education, and food and nutrition. This is both for grade 11 and 12. For next year in grade 11 I put down to be a pe assistant, biology, and food/nutrition which is a few of the requirments. The things that would help me achieve my goals is in grade 11 I want to be a pe assistant which is good experience to have especially with personal training because you have to teach, show, and be able to communicate with you clients. Other options would be to volunteer at the YMCA, also you can give free personal training sessions so you feel confident in yourself and ready to take the next step. These would definetly help me achieve my goals.

For personal training there actually isn't that many requirments you just basically after to be 19 years or older and in some other courses 18 to be able to get your certification to be a personal trainer. It also doesn't take that long either. To achieve my goals I don't rally have to worry about to much because I have so much support from my family, and I love fitness and I am a athlete my self which is very important to being a personal trainer because you need to be able to understand sports, and now how to show excersise and actually be able to do them. Also I know what you need to eat to be healthy because we have a nutritionist for track so I already have a good understanding of how much water, protein, carbohydrates you need to consume on a day to day basis based on your weight and gender. With the support I have, my fitness, and my knowledge of health there isn't to much to do to achieve my goals of being a personal trainer.

To achieve this career of being a personal trainer there isn't really any potential challenges that I may face because the requirments aren't that strict and you basically just need to be older then 19 and that's it. I have so much support from my family, and I'm fit and know quite a bit about health there really isn't really any challenges that I may face the only thing would be is getting hired and where I want to work but personal training is so high in demand right know it's not that hard to get hired. To get hired I will do a lot of research on certain locations and make sure that I put my best foot forward. Also I know people at gyms and who are in the fitness industry so I could get advice through them and have connections through them. The timeline that I would give myself to get my personal training certification is around a year. I would get my personal training certification after I go to university for track because there is no university degree required to be a personal trainer. Personal trainers normally get payed from 25-100$ an hour. Reputations is everything for a personal trainer and their buissness, if you have a good reputation and many years of experience you can charge the highest rates.

The way that I will monitor my success as I work to achieve my goals over the years that I am finished high school and university is how my fitness improves, the knowledge of health and what foods to eat, knowing many different excersises, and number of clients. I would monitor these things from 2-3 years once I get hired and finished getting certified. To be a personal trainer after going to university for track is the goal that I have set for myself because I have always wanted to be a personal trainer and work in the fitness and health industry. I love being active and living a healthy life style, it's something I have a true passion for that's why I wan to do personal training. On all of my quizzes we did previously they all suggested social at the top and being a personal trainer is definetly social because you need to interact with the clients and be able to assess them and show them the workouts. You also must be in excellent shape because it's a demanding daily routine. Normally personal trainers train 7 clients a day.I work out daily, eat healthy, and stay in shape so I think this career would be perfect for me. I would love to be a personal trainer, I think this career will be in my future.

My Dream Career

My dream career would be able to own my own fitness company and gym in Vancouver or possibly internationally. I would also like to be a personal trainer at my gym. For this job the salary expectations are endless because you are owning your company and it depends on how successful it will be. It's not just all about the money for me, I love fitness and health and helping people reach there goals and there full potential.

Being a personal trainer is highly in demand due to obesity rates that are getting worse, also that people will always have a need for fitness, it will never go out of style. Personal trainers is one of the fastest growing careers in the health and fitness industry today. The demand continues to grow rapidly each and every day. From celebrities to senior citizens, personal trainers help you how to excersise properly, have a healthy life, and reach your fitness goals.

To become a personal trainers there is no need for a university degree.  All you need is to be 19 years or older to take the course. You can take the course in New Westminster BC and it costs about $5,800.00 and no grade 12 required.  But since I want to pursue my track career and know how to run my own business properly, I want to go to UNLV (University Of Nevada Las Vegas) on a full ride ride scholarship for track.

If I get a track scholarship I won't need to worry about the cost of getting my business degree but for non Nevada residents, tuition costs about $31,695.00 per year and $125,000.00 for an entire degree. The requirements to get a bachelor calmers degree is you need pre-calculus 12, average of 84 percent is required, 70 percent in English 11 and 12, graduation from high school with a minimum of 70 percent, and 2 other approved grade 12 courses.

It is really easy to get hired as a personal trainer due to how highly in demand it is, but since I will own my own buissness I don't need to worry about getting hired. Owning your own buissness is definetly not easy at first, but it's all worth it in the end.  The attributes and skills that I have for these jobs is I'm a people person, understandable, hard working, determined, I've got grit, I'm kind, and caring which is very important if you're a personal trainer and owning your own buissness.

I think that this career is definetly a possibility because with my track and the support that I have from my family. Like my track coach always says " education is the key to success, sports opens doors and opportunities".

Personality Quizzes

I really enjoyed taking these four tests, I thought they were really interesting and very accurate. I was actually really surprised how accurate all the tests were. They all described me really well and gave very accurate results for careers, what they suggested is actually what I have been thinking of doing.

The results from the Holland's test were very accurate and I was quite surprised by that. The Holland's personality test gave me the acronym ISA which stands for investigative, social and artistic. What I was thinking of doing when I'm older either was go into criminology or be a counsellor and help people with their problems. I was a shocked how accurate this test was.

The learning styles quiz it have me the results visual:7, aural:11, read/write:9, and kinesthetic:7. I thought these results were pretty spot on. I would describe myself as being a person who is a more aural and reading/writing person. I was very shocked with how accurate this quiz was. I would also say I am more of a visual learner to but more aural and reading. I thought this quiz was very good and helpful for the way that I learn.

The work values quiz I was 95 percent directive, 88 percent social, 85 percent methodical, and 60 percent innovative . These results were pretty accurate as well. I found this quiz very helpful for deciding what career path I should take.  I am really surprised with this quiz as well how accurate it was.

The career's quiz it said the highest one for me is social which I completely agree with. The lowest one was investigative which I was really surprised by because when I'm older I want to either do something social or investigative so I thought this quiz wasn't quite as accurate as the other's.

Overall I thought these tests and quizzes were pretty accurate and helpful and I enjoyed taking all of them. There was just one quiz that I thought wasn't as accurate as the others which was the careers quiz, it was still accurate somewhat accurate but it wasn't accurate in most. I was really surprised by how accurate most of the quizzes were, some of the quizzes were spot on about what area of career I want to work in, learning styles, and work values. Insights that were accurate for me was that how I am a more aural and reading/writing learner. Also how I want to either do something investigative or social when I'm older. My results steer me to something directive, social, and in the Hollands test investigative. Overall though in most of the quizzes it suggested social. Things that showed up a lot were definetly social and investigative they were the main ones in most of the quizzes thay it suggested. In the first quiz it said investigative but didn't show up in the others. These quizzes were really interesting to take, I thought they were very helpful and mostly accurate, I'm glad we took these quizzes.

My Golden Future

After high school I have a pretty good I idea what I want to do. After high school I want to get a track scholarship to a University in the states to either University of Hawaii, Western Washington University in Seattle, or UCLA. I also want to try to go to the Olympics. I love track, in my future there will definetly be track or something involving fitness.I want to go to University also to get a criminology degree and work with the police and do investigations. I would also like to work with the dogs that work with the police.I am pretty sure this is what I want to do after high school .

I love track, I definetly want to do track after high school and pursue my dream to be an olympIian. I really love dogs and doing detective work so I want to work in the Police department and work with the dogs that help them when they are investigating. I also would like to have a dog walking business on the side. I love dogs and I could get a workout in while walking them.  I might also want to have my own fitness company and be a personal trainer. I really love fitness and I am obsessed with my health and keeping active so I would be able to have a job that I really love which is the most important thing, you don't want a job that you won't like you should look forward to your job. I probably will definetly do one of these things in my future, I have ideas of what I want to do but I haven't really narrowed it down to one thing, but I know for sure that after high school I want to get a track scholarship to the states and get a criminology degree.
